Prof Stefan Todorov Barudov

Since 1999, Professor Barudov has been an elected (second mandate) Rector of the Technical University of Varna (TUV).

Mr. Stefan Barudov graduated from the Technical University of Varna in 1971 (MSc in Radio Electronics) and has been an employee of the TUV since 1974. His interest in mathematics, engineering, science and technology has enabled him to participate effectively in the University’s activities.

His abilities to explore, assess, develop and communicate efficiently accumulated knowledge, have been recognised by the University’s management infrastructure and as a result, between 1974 and 1999 Mr. Barudov held, progressively, the following positions: Assistant Professor, Associated Professor, Deputy Director “Institute of Electrical Engineering”, Deputy Dean and Dean of the Electrical Engineering Faculty and Deputy Rector. In 1999, Prof. Barudov was elected as Rector of TUV.

As newly elected Rector, Prof. Barudov, together with the TUV Managerial Board, has undertaken a number of successful innovative activities, taking into account the occurring positive economic and political developments of Bulgaria, both on National and International levels. Now TUV is a licensed professional training centre for both people outside the academic sphere and for those studying at TUV.

Prof. Barudov helped establish and manage a number of national and international organisations including the Bulgarian Corporative University (a Consortium of 15 enterprises), for which he is a Chairman of the Management Board. Other organisations include the Hi-Tec Business Incubator, Varna (Prof. Barudov is a Deputy Manager) and the Black Sea University Network (68 Universities, from 11 countries) where Prof. Barudov is a Member of the Management Board.

Taking on board wholeheartedly the progress and development of TUV and that of the Republic of Bulgaria, Prof. Barudov has pursued a number of international activities, creating an important professional relationship with respectful international institutions and experts in the area of academia and innovating technologies. In that manner the following institutions were created: the British Inter-University Centre (at TUV), the Turkish-Bulgarian Inter-University Centre (at TUV) and the French Language Learning Centre.

For such activities Prof. Barudov was awarded the National ‘Order of Merit’ by Decree of the President of Romania (2004) for contribution to the academic association among the universities of the Black Sea region and ‘Doctor Honour Causa’ from the university of Abertay, Dundee, UK (2004).

Prof. Barudov’s vast knowledge and experience has been constantly contributing to the benefit of current and future academic and industrial spheres through his invention and scientific work, scientific monographs and books, publications and training-methodological aids. For such activities Prof. Barudov was awarded a Record in the “Gold Book of Inventors and Creators in Bulgaria” (2005 Patent Office of Republic of Bulgaria) and the Varna Prize (2005).
